Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Customers are responsible for all customs fees and duties. We will only put the actual value of the items on shipping forms.
Standard shipping is UPS ground from our Maryland factory. We also ship USPS to APO and FPO addresses. Generally UPS ground shipments arrive on the West Coast within 5 to 7 working days and to other points within the continental US in shorter periods. We can also ship UPS three-day, two-day and overnight.
Shipping is our actual cost (we do not charge "handling"). While this works out great for spray guns and larger items, cleaning brushes and other small items are expensive to ship alone. Please note our minimum purchase per shipping address for both our military and commercial customers is $25.
Yes you can... but a credit card is faster. We do not ship "check" orders until we have verified funds. This can delay shipment of orders up to two weeks.
We do not have a storefront at our plant but you are welcome to stop by and we will be happy to help you. Virtually all our customers purchase via telephone, fax or the internet - we sell all our equipment factory-direct.
We only sell factory-direct. We do not use distributors. Military customers can purchase online via DSCC.

HVLP spray guns put more material on the work and less in the air as "overspray" which results in less material being used. Simply put, HVLP is less expensive to use and more environmentally friendly. Moreover many new environmental laws require the use HVLP spray guns thereby eliminating the choice. Please consult the laws and regulations in your state, county and/or city and purchase the correct spray gun for your intended application. See About HVLP and About Overspray.
High Volume, Low Pressure is an atomizing process that uses compressed air at pressures ranging from 1-10 PSI as measured at the spray gun air cap.
Transfer efficiency is the portion of the atomized material that is actually deposited on the work piece. For instance if the transfer efficiency of a specific spray gun is 75%, it means that 75% of the material is applied to the work. The remainder is commonly referred to as overspray or waste.
Typically, you will need a 3-HP compressor that operates at 50 PSI and 19.4 CFM to properly supply air to a HVLP spray gun. We know of customers with 5-HP compressors that are not able to get enough free air (CFM) to operate their HVLP guns, but this is rare. Since CFM is compressor specific, you will need to refer to your compressor's specifications to determine if you have enough air. An old rule of thumb is 4 CFM per HP, but this rule is not always accurate. Unfortunately we do not maintain information regarding compressor output. Please consult your owner's manual or your compressor manufacturer.
