About PAPCE

California South Coast Air Quality Management District  Protect Workers Protect The Environment Improve Productivity

AirVerter’s 500 series PAPCEs are portable suction-type control devices for capturing fugitive vapor, mist, gases, fumes, odors, and other liquid and solid errant particulate matter from spraying, sanding, grinding, or welding operations. PAPCE’s accessibility to virtually any location makes it an ideal productivity enhancing solution: spraying can be done on location—work does not have to be moved to a spray booth.

PAPCE (pronounced “pap see”) was originally developed by Northrop Grumman to reduce chromate emissions at its Hawthorne, California, F-18 plant. PAPCE’s ability to capture overspray reduced total chromate emissions by 88% and SCAQMD approved PAPCE for implementing Northrop’s Air Quality Improvement Plan. PAPCE users now include Boeing, Gulfstream, Lockheed Martin, Morgan (truck bodies) and numerous military installations including Andrews AFB, Warner Robins AFB, Whiteman AFB, Ft. Smith and Ft. Bragg. Smith Eastern Corporation (AirVerter) manufactures PAPCEs under an exclusive license from Northrop Grumman Corporation. AirVerter’s multi-function PAPCE has five patents.

At Andrews AFB, a PAPCE is used to reduce concentrations of explosive vapor during painting of C-141 nose wheel wells. Whiteman AFB uses PAPCEs to lower chromate contamination in B-2 maintenance docks. At Boeing’s Huntington Beach, California, Delta rocket facilities, PAPCEs are used in rocket motor production to reduce chromate contamination and to evacuate noxious odors. In Savannah, Georgia, Gulfstream uses PAPCEs for touch-up work in their main fabrication facility. At Morgan, PAPCEs are used on the truck body production line for capturing overspray from undercarriage spray painting operations. And PAPCEs are excellent for evacuating overspray or fumes from the interior of a bus, train car, heavy-equipment cab, or from an airplane cockpit.

National Stock Numbers cover each system, part and accessory facilitating federal purchasing. For commercial users our federal contract is further assurance of quality, service and parts availability.
