About Overspray
Overspray is paint spray particles that miss or fail to adhere to the work being painted. Overspray represents WASTED material. Reducing this waste can dramatically reduce the total amount of material required, and just as important, reducing overspray reduces pollutants. Overspray commonly releases VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) which contribute to the formation of smog and are a primary candidate for reduction by the Environmental Protection Agency. It has been proven that pressures of 10 psi or less at the spray guns air cap greatly reduces overspray and results in a corresponding increase in transfer efficiency. Unfortunately, it has been widely documented that most HVLP guns operating at compliant pressures lack sufficient energy to satisfactorily spray many of the new high-solids coatings. This has the perverse effect of encouraging the operator to use the gun out of compliance, sometimes at up to 80 psi inlet pressure. The only certain way to control overspray is to insure the gun is operating at less than 10 psi as measured at the air cap. AirVerter makes inductor spray guns that use a patented jet-venturi induction system that keeps the pressure at the air cap to 10 psi or less and transfer efficiency at 75% at any compressor pressure. AirVerters new DeTach III Spray Gun uses a patented open passage design and cannot be taken out of compliance at up to 80 psi, far above other manufacturers specifications. Even more important, AirVerters induction and open-passage systems provide the higher energy required to atomize materials that many other HVLP systems cannotand provide the performance and productivity levels of conventional air spray equipment. Both AirVerters unique jet-venturi inductor spray guns and its open passage DeTach spray gun generate up to 66% less overspray than conventional guns.
